We want to make sure ThinLinc works well on the upcoming new RHEL version. A beta is out, let's test it.
Red Hat has made good on their threats, and Xorg is indeed fully gone. As a result, there is no package remaining that gives you a GNOME xsessions file that ThinLinc can use. EPEL 10 is already active, but not very populated yet. Unfortunately, there are no X11 desktop environments there either, as evident by running: > $ sudo dnf repoquery --file '/usr/share/xsessions/*' Fortunately, they don't seem to have nuked the X11 support out of GNOME. If you copy over /usr/share/xsessions/gnome.desktop from another system, then it seems to start just fine in ThinLinc.
Red Hat no longer includes Firefox and Thunderbird in RHEL. Instead, they've taken a chapter out of Ubuntu's playbook and package those as flatpaks: https://docs.redhat.com/en/documentation/red_hat_enterprise_linux/10-beta/html-single/10.0_beta_release_notes/index#new-features-and-enhancements-desktop
✅ Basic function (Graphics, Mouse, Keyboard) ✅ Network transport ✅ Server installation (and setup) ✅ Session startup ✅ Sound redirection ✅ Output ✅ Input (mic) ✅ Drive redirection ✅ Printer redirection ✅ OpenGL ☑️ Smart card redirection [1] ✅ Authentication ✅ Smart card ✅ Password ✅ Public key ✅ Kerberos [1] Bug 8492
I doubt I'll get any change, but I've pleaded with Red Hat to provide the xsessions file again: https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-74278
