We are using unfs3 in the ThinLinc client to provide that side of the local drives functionality. Unfortunately, that project is pretty much dead. We are the maintainers, but we rarely do any work on it. That means we don't get the benefits of using an open source project. There is a new project available though, that might be an interesting replacement: https://nfs-ganesha.github.io/ It is a lot more complex, though. But that could also mean it gives us features we don't currently have. The biggest hurdle is probably that I cannot see anything about Windows support.
