The same commandline agains 2008R2 works as expected but fails against the Window 2012 R2.

This works so long as you have sound enabled. Tested with thinlinc-rdesktop-4.1.1 and Windows 2012 and 2012R2.

Same underlying problem as #5011

Vendordrop with fix in commit 28565.
