I enabled gnutls logging in tlstunnel, and got this:

2011-12-02 14:21:27 DEBUG tlwebadm[23941]: gnutls(2): ASSERT: pkcs11.c:399

2011-12-02 14:21:27 DEBUG tlwebadm[23941]: gnutls(2): Cannot load /etc/gnutls/pkcs11.conf

We do not want it reading local configuration files as that might mess things up.

On the other hand, some system configuration might be necessary to read in order to handle bug 5956?

That should be bug 5948.
